Their journey of starting Flock Coliving took some years to take shape, stemming from their own personal experience of seeing themselves and their loved ones struggle to find a place they could call home.
Ashwani had moved to Delhi from his hometown, Meerut to start his career in hotel management after which he eventually switched to real estate. As he started living away from family, right after his school, he knew what a herculean task it was to find a decent living space in this city.
Khushboo on the other hand hailed from Delhi, lived with her family but that didn’t make her immune to seeing her closest friends struggle with the same problem – they didn’t want to go back to their PGs because of loneliness and absence of basic amenities such as security, electricity, water or social community..
Every day, hundreds (if not more!) of these go-getters come from every nook and corner of the country to build a life in the Millennium City, but 90% of the time they lose the battle of finding a decent place to live. And wherever they do wind up living begrudgingly, they only come back to their space to sleep well; sometimes they work long hours in the office because they have nothing to do or look forward to when they return.
Humans are social animals at the end of the day, and as you struggle to fit in with the culture of a new city and a new workplace, making friends and developing meaningful relationships usually take time. But it doesn’t always have to be that way, right? We don’t always need to go find connections on the phone or spend time watching online content or scrolling through social media until we are knocked out.
With a career spanning over ten years in the real estate sector, Ashwani has worked with affordable, mid-segment, luxury housing as well as commercial developments across Delhi NCR. He started his career with JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle) going on to work with CBRE Group for over eight years and has worked with reputable clients such as IFC, Infosys, Nova, HCL, HSBC, Sun Group, Bennet & Coleman, TATA Communication, DLF and American Express to name a few. He has also been a partner at Phoenix Real Estate Fund. He is currently dedicated to his maiden venture, Flock.
Hailing from a mass communications background, Khushboo has had a successful stint in the media sector with reputed news channels like Times Now, Doordarshan and Mh 1. She has also worked as a freelance fashion stylist for three years. Finding her call and wanting to pursue her passion for hospitality industry, she founded Spice n Herbs four years ago that specializes in institutional catering. She is currently dedicated to building her maiden venture, Flock.
